As opposed to what many people refer to as the 'Hibisus Coast' in New Zealand, the Hibiscus Coast
Municipality is located in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. Many local tourists, and tourists from all
around the world, visit the Hibiscus Coast Municipality for its world class beaches.
Some of the beaches have been recognized as Blue Flag beaches,
including Ramsgate Beach, and Hibberdene Beach, Marina Beach/San Lameer, and also Lucien Beach.
The coastal areas are not quite as hot and rainy in the summer as
compared to southern Florida in the United States, but offer the same humidity and subtropical climate.
The Hibiscus Coast Municipality is also the economic center of the
Ugu District Municipality. It neighbors the Eastern Cape Province, the Umzumbe Local Municipality, and the
Ezingoleni Local Municipality.
The total population in 2006 was numbered at 272,467 people.
Languages spoken in the Hibiscus Coast Municipality are Zulu, English, and also Xhosa.
The coastline of the Hibiscus Coast Municipality features small
towns, which are seasonal recreational centers. Umtamvuna/Port Edward, Port Shepstone, Margate, Hibberdene and
Imperjati/Southbroom are some of these towns.
They offer many things for tourists to do while visiting Hibiscus
Coast Municipality, such as clubs, bars, restaurants, golf courses, clothing stores, museums, and movie theaters.
There are also a wide variety of accommodations.
